Larry Thomas Lawrence
February 05, 1948 - September 06, 2013
SAVANNAH – Larry Thomas Lawrence, 65, died Friday, September 6, 2013, at Hospice House.
A native of Durham, NC he was a General Contractor for many years prior to moving to Savannah in 1989. Savannah changed his life. He began to explore his passion for cooking by serving an apprenticeship under the Executive Chef at The Mulberry Inn. For the next twenty years Larry served as Executive Chef for both The Mulberry Inn and the Savannah Marriott Riverfront. Larry relished the opportunity to serve the world during the 1996 Olympics in Savannah and looked forward each year to preparing dinner for the Third Infantry at their annual gala. Larry had an eclectic love of music, from Country to Rock and Roll and loved to play the drums, wherever he could find a set.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon Stokes Lawrence of Savannah; his son, Kevin Tyler Lawrence of Durham, NC; and his devoted Jack Russell Terrier, Skip. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Anna Wynne Lawrence and John Thomas Lawrence.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service until 5:00 pm.
